I found it to be an excellent compilation of practical and diverse examples for both new and moderate users. The graphical menu approach with step-by-step examples and full web videos with CD support for working finished models is very supportive of the workbench interface as well as the reviews of the relevant physics involved for robust boundary conditions. I will be looking for more for advanced uses in the future for ANSYS Multi-physics, Explicit STR, Rigid Dynamics, and LS-Dyna extensions. If the author can create more, I will look here first.

Valuable Training Tool for ANSYS Workbench

This is a well written tutorial for ANSYS Workbench. Having used ANSYS for over twenty years, I used this book to bring myself kicking and screaming out of the APDL format. The book includes a CD that is very helpful in the learning process. The author has wisely set up the book to be followed in a program like fashion. Unfortunately, the book is so popular in my firm that I can't seem to keep it on my bookshelf. We have sent folks to ANSYS formal training and have had better results just having them go through this workbook. We now provide each new analyst with this workbook.

About the Author
Sina Ebnesajjad is the series editor of Plastics Design Library (PDL) published in the William Andrew imprint of Elsevier. This Series is a unique series, comprising technology and applications handbooks, data books and practical guides tailored to the needs of practitioners. Sina was the editor-in-chief of William Andrew Publishing from 2005 to 2007, which was acquired by Elsevier in 2009.

He retired as a Senior Technology Associate in 2005 from the DuPont fluoropolymers after nearly 24 years of service. Sina founded of FluoroConsultants Group, LLC in 2006 where he continues to work. Sina earned his Bachelor of Science from the School of Engineering of the University of Tehran in 1976, Master of Science and PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, all in Chemical Engineering.

He is author, editor and co-author of fifteen technical and data books including five handbooks on fluoropolymers technology and applications. He is author and co-author of three books in surface preparation and adhesion of materials, two of which are in their second editions. Sina has been involved with technical writing and publishing since 1974.

His experiences include fluoropolymer technologies (polytetrafluoroethylene and its copolymers) including polymerization, finishing, fabrication, product development, failure analysis, market development and technical service. Sina holds six patents.

I have over a decade of experience conducting internet research, competitive intelligence and training Recruiters on internet research techniques inside Microsoft, Google, Siemens, MCI and a string of startup companies. As such, I have been privy to several trends, tools and tech that all Sourcers should be leveraging in their daily routine. About the Author
Dr. Stout has more than 20 years of petroleum and coal industry experience. He specializes in chemical compositions of fuel-derived sources of contamination in terrestrial and marine environments, which includes crude oil, coal, gasoline and other substances. His research has been used for decision making by the United States Departments of Justice and Defense, and by the forest products, utility, railroad, wood treatment, maritime shipping, port operations, and oil and gas industries. Dr. Stout has authored or co-authored nearly 120 scientific papers and edited a textbook on the environmental forensics aspects of maritime oil spills.

Dr. Zhendi Wang is a senior research scientist and Head of Oil Spill Research of Environment Canada, working in the oil and toxic chemical spill research field. His specialties and research interests include: development of oil spill fingerprinting and tracing technology, environmental forensics of oil spill; oil properties, fate and behavior of oil and other hazardous organics in the environment; oil burn emission and products study; oil bioremediation; identification and characterization of oil hydrocarbons; and, spill treatment studies; applications of modern analytical techniques (such as GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, SFE and SFC, and IC) to oil spill studies and other environmental science and technology.
Dr. Wang has continually and extensively led and been involved in various scientific projects, technology transfer, and national and international cooperative researches with the total funding over 3 million dollars. He has authored over 270 academic publications including 72 peer-reviewed articles and 4 invited reviews in the most respected journals in the environmental science and chemistry, and 8 books and book chapters. The productivity, excellence and achievements of Dr. Wang have established him as a national and international “leading authority on the topic”. He has won a number of national and international scientific honours and awards. Wang is also a member of America Chemical Society (ACS), the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), and the International Society of Environmental Forensics.

Disappointed

I was expecting something different from this book - maybe something more along the Getting Things Done path than what this ended up being. It is definitely a short read - the highlights are outlined in the book description above.

I'd say this is definitely geared more towards management than worker bee's, but there are still a few things anyone can use. Number one being, just say "no" to meetings that don't provide any value. Other than that (which I already try to practice), I just didn't get much out of this book. I'm a little surprised by all of the glowing reviews I read here. Maybe I missed something.

This book turned my head around, not to mention my department

Nine months ago I was hired to help turnaround a once successful business. From day one I realized that this was a company without focus. It's one thing to define a problem, another to find a solution. Haneberg's book was a shot in the arm. Just one concept -- "Stop Multitasking" -- would have been a major breakthrough for my team. And, personally, the idea of doing "One Great Thing" has completely revitalized my approach to a huge job. This book immediately rose to the rank of three or four "must read" titles in my business library. In the couple of months since I first read it (and I've re-read it a couple of times) our department has moved far away from the reactive mode that drove decisions -- we're nailing deadlines, we're closing more sales, we're thinking more strategically across the board. In a business and social environment that throws more at us day-by-day, hour-by-hour, this book is even more important than it would have been just a few years ago. Clarity, Vision, Action, and Results

If you want goal-setting glitz and glamour, watch an infomercial. If you want a commonsense management refresher course that reorders your thoughts and shows you a step-by-step path leading to breakthrough successes, read, "Focus Like a Laser Beam."

This is one of those books that sneaks-up on you. You read a section, pause, nod knowingly, and keep reading. Then, throughout the following days and weeks the book's messages keep bubbling to the surface as your context and focus changes.

This book is all about establishing clear visions and focused actions that produce results. Of the book's "10 Ways to Do What Matters Most," my favorite is, "Stop Multitasking, Start Chunking." I always prided myself on my ability to multitask and keep dozens of projects moving at the same time.

After reflecting on this section of the book, I stopped and focused on each project. I realized I had created a great deal of commotion, with very little forward movement.

By carving out "chunks" of time to focus and respond to each project, I immediately experienced a series of small breakthrough accomplishments.

Sure, in hindsight it was commonsense, but without having read "Focus" and learning to dedicate chunks of time to important tasks, I would probably never finished this review.

Poorly researched.

It is quite evident that Kendall has never made any kind of extensive research on tithing before writing this book. His unbalanced presentation only quotes others who agree with him.
1. No effort is made in the book to define the term, "tithe." The author's definition is purely what he thought it meant from childhood.
2. The opening pages are basically a "shame on you" to those who disagree. They are labeled as "escaping from glorifying God" (p24). Several times the author appears to blame all of the shortcomings of the church on its lack of tithing. He seems unconcerned that the theological systems may be widely different.
3. The curse and material blessings of Malachi are prominent. Missing is the O.T. context of the curse (Deu 27:19, 26; Neh 10:29; Mal 3:1-7; 4:4). Missing also is the fact from Numbers 18 that tithing itself entered as a death curse when the priesthood was taken from the family head. As usual in this type of book, Malachi 3 is used as a hammer and quoted repeatedly.
4. Tithing was not specifically taught in the New Testament, he says, because it was an "assumption" (p29). Yet a valid principle of interpretation states that all vital doctrines carried over from the O.T. are repeated in the N.T. after Calvary.
5. Jesus' mention of tithing in Mt. 23:23 is clearly in the context of a discussion of the law, those under it, and those who misuse it (Mt 23:2-4).
6. Kendall asks, "Where would foreign missions be without this verse?," Mt 23:23. Strangely, his "motivation" for giving on pages 104-106 does NOT include a "compassion for lost souls" or "love response to God." O.T. Jews tithed according to the Law and had no missions at all! Tithing is not the answer. The law has no power or glory when compared to the power of the Spirit (2 Cor 3:10-18).
7. Page 34 has the statement "There is nothing more disgraceful than a church that struggles financially simply because its people will not tithe. There is nothing more melancholy than an underpaid minister." However, many very successful churches thrive without teaching tithing (such as those associated with Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary). For almost 300 years the early church thrived through persecution while its pastors (like Jewish rabbis) were self-supporting and were mostly strict ascetics who boasted of their extreme poverty.
8. While Kendall uses Genesis 14 (p43-56) as the origin of tithing by Abraham, the book, Should the Church Teach Tithing?, goes into great detail on this subject. In their discussions of the 90% of Genesis 14:21, almost every commentary concludes the existence of a pre-existing Arab plunder law which compelled Abraham to tithe. As Kendall correctly emphasizes on page 49, he ONLY gave a spoils of war tithe. Also, he gave no freewill offering, built no altar, and ignored Melchizedek on his journey to adjoining Moriah in chapter 22. Also, El Elyon, the highest god of Tyre and Sidon, possessor/creator of heaven and earth, was commonly known by the Canaanites to be either Baal or El. Abraham, not Melchizedek, knew the true God as Yahweh, the LORD.
9. On pages 57-69 Kendall makes little or no difference between the Old Covenant Law and the N.T. except that the N.T. teaches a higher standard --- meaning that ALL should give more than a tithe. The assumption that everybody under the O.T. was required tithe is wrong! --- it only applied to clean food grown or raised in Israel. The poor, merchants, and craftsmen such as carpenters never tithed. Very confusing is Kendall's remark, "Keeping the law of love would also mean keeping the very commandments of Moses, possible without even realizing it" (p68).
10. Kendall uses Hebrews 7 very selectively. The chapter actually concludes in verses 12-18 that ALL commandments supporting the Levitical priesthood, which must include the foundational tithe, MUST be abolished to make room for Christ's higher priesthood.
I would recommend to Kendall and others wanting to honestly discover the truth about tithing that they read two or three books presenting BOTH sides of the issue. I would also recommend reading at least four church historians and cover the time period before AD 325.

Sincere and non-legalistic presentation of tithing.

This book (which by the way is specifically dedicated by the author to pastors) could be considered the textbook for tithers, as it so closely resembles the common teaching and preaching heard today on the subject.
Tithing: A Call To Serious Biblical Giving - involves a sincere, encouraging and loving attempt to present why tithing is important for Christians. The book is well written, easy to read and presents some interesting challenges to non-tithing Christians and attempts to provide answers to some of the opposing views concerning the tithe.
But while the author's examination of the tithe is intellectually plausible (and some good and even biblical points are made from time to time), it is unfortunately not well supported by Scripture. The majority of the teaching is presented according to the author's personal opinions, speculations and assumptions (with some testimony) rather than a clear, detailed examination and presentation of Scripture.
For example, on one occasion the author preludes his teaching by telling the reader he is going to present how even the Apostle Paul preached on the tithe (an interesting claim that invited my attention), but what follows is merely and exclusively the author's opinionated speculation concerning what he feels Paul probably might have said in a sermon (though not one of these assumed sermons by the Apostle are supported by any thread of Scripture). The author seems to have a habit of reading a lot in between the lines of Scripture to support (and henceforth enforce) his position on the tithe. Some verses are lifted from their context (although probably in sincerity and ignorance) to support a New Testament defense of tithing.
The book is an excellent presentation of how the tithe is most commonly practiced, preached and understood by Christians today. The book reads like the perfect sermon on the tithe. I would recommend it if you're researching various perspective views on the subject, but unfortunately it fails the test of being able to effectively support a position of biblical tithing based on Scripture alone.
I gave the book 2 stars because while interesting and even enjoyable to read, it was lacking my expectations for a more biblically in-depth investigation of the tithe. The book seems heavily biased by the author's traditional views.

Very weak

I read this book along with a book called "Should the Church Teach Tithing?" I wanted to get a balanced view of the tithing debate from both sides of the issue. I was leaning towards believing that tithing should not be taught before reading this book, and after reading it am 100% convinced that it should not be taught.
This book rehashes the same tired principles on tithing. Malachi 3:8-10 and Matthew 23:23 are verses that pro-tithers quote often. I view Kendall's interpretation of these verses to be lacking. He basically argues that if you tithe (he believes that tithing means giving 10% not the 23% that the Old Testament teaches), you will be blessed. If you do not tithe, you will be cursed. Oh, and you should tithe on your gross, not your net pay because you want God to bless you on your gross pay (blah, blah, blah).
I think the strongest argument for teaching tithing is that Christians give only 2-3% of their incomes on average to Christian work, but the question could be asked is this because churches teach tithing and people don't buy the arguments?
The real treasure is seeing that all our money, time and talents are God's and that every spending, giving and saving decision should be made in light of knowing that the Christian's citizenship is somewhere else (heaven). Forget tithing, let's encourage believers to give it all for the kingdom. God doesn't own 10%, he owns 100%. This issue was never addressed in this book.

This book manages to feel like a genuinely refreshing experience

"In a genre as generally derivative as fantasy erotica, it's perilously difficult to find anything that stands out as truly unique, different or new. This book manages to feel like a genuinely refreshing experience, combining a sense of wit and style not often seen in modern fantasy writing.

If you're a fan of MMORPGs, you'll love this book for its wit and comedy alone. The adventures and quests are packed with monsters, all of who are out to indulge their carnal desires, to which our heroic elf protagonist meets with many predictably sticky outcomes.

Anders is our main character, an elf who comes across as particularly plucky and endearing, but surrounding him is a cast of colourful characters who are all equally developed and entertaining. If you have ever played pretty much any online MMO, you're going to encounter characters, events and situations that you're intimately familiar with.

As a veteran Warcraft gamer, I found myself laughing aloud quite often each chapter. This is a solid, sturdy book packed full of hillarious moments, with a rather unique formatting style that facilitates the game's pop-up text. If you've ever played in a D&D game which has gone off the rails, this is a game that will certainly raise a few eyebrows.

This is an imaginative, stylish book with a solid comedy backbone and some very, very spicy moments. If you love fantasy gaming, you will love this book (and not just because it'll get your dick hard, honest!)"

Erotica with a plot

This was a very long story (743 pages in pdf) and it took me a while to get into it. The characters and/or scenes were funny and somewhat annoying. A lot of the characters were very sexed up. Seriously, I think every chapter had at least one sexual encounter involved. The bosses were fun to learn and see about. That being said I think it started becoming a very tedious read towards the end even though it turned out to be an entertaining read.

Starting out I really thought this was a weird book. I like playing rpgs but reading a characters experience with(in) one was just odd and to be truthful not as enjoyable as playing and seeing the story unfold myself. I also thought Ander's may have picked up a hentai rpg instead of a normal rpg.

The writing was very descriptive. It was helpful in helping me to visualize what was happening and how the characters might have looked. Although the length of the bosses or NPC ...umm...nether regions were a bit more tricky and scary to think about.

There were a lot of questions raised about why Ander seemed to be the only one to be experiencing these unfortunate (or well maybe fortunate to Anders) turn of events involving the enemy and NPCs to want to assault him sexually. I liked that the author managed to answer all those questions that popped up while I was reading in the story. Although I'm still unsure why Anders broke (unless the Pink slime caused it to happen?)

I don't recommend this to anyone who wants romance since this isn't that type of book. However if you like erotica (and elves) this is definitely a book to give a read.

ook, I know this line gets tossed around lightly, but here, in this instance, there is no hyperbole:

You have never read a book like this before.

Seriously. I'm not a fan of the modern erotica genre for a number of reasons that I will not get into here. What I found in Anders' story was a refreshing, humorous, and in no way blood-boiling take on both video game satire and campy, anything goes sex romps.

Any video game monster you can think of (and some you would never think of) can't seem to keep it in their pants when our hapless hero wanders by. Yes, this does make for some strange and even uncomfortable situations, but it works, trust me on this.

The story itself is fun. Admittedly, it has something of a slow start and I was a little worried that each chapter was just going to be Anders being mauled by a different game boss, but no, that's just the set up. A couple of chapters in we meet the rest of the group and suddenly there's plot being spewed everywhere.

I daresay, my favorite of the bunch might just be the caps lock abusing Roodg. Why? I wish I knew. My reasons are as shrouded in mystery as Roodg's gender identity. There's just something endearing about several text boxes filled with nothing but "hI!" and "nEAT!"

Who would enjoy this? Video gamers with a sense of humor, M/M erotica fans with a sense of humor, humor fans with a sense of humor, and perverts the world over.
