Lovely Body & Sex-Positive Book for *Anyone*

This is an *excellent* book for everyone. Though it is oriented to pre-op/non-op trans women and their sexual partners, the approach and tone of the book is *so good* that anyone can find some take-away to improve their body awareness and view of humans as sexual beings. I am a trans woman, and I leaned quite a few new things about my XY body, but I especially appreciated Mira's way of playfully, beautifully legitimizing my body and experience as a woman who is transgender (pre-op when I first read this, post-op now and it's still useful). Mira created this as a "cookbook" of ideas and experiences that is meant to be shared and grown, and her sensitivity and humility in this is as lovely as her saucy, irreverent drawings & prose!

I bought a couple copies: one to keep and one to loan-out!!

PS) I hope she creates another issue! It appears that Mira only created Issue #0, so the cover and volume number of this book as "1" may not be correct.

Arthur George Morrison (1863-1945) was born and raised in the East End of London. His journalism was first published in the Globe in 1885 and he then worked as a clerk to the Beaumont Trustees, becoming sub-editor of the house paper, the Palace Journal. He left at the end of 1890 to join the editorial staff of the evening Globe before publishing his first book, The Shadows around Us, a collection of supernatural tales, in 1891. It is his acclaimed and controversial East End works though, Tales of Mean Streets (1894), A Child of the Jago (1896), and The Hole in the Wall (1902), for which he is best known.

Another old novel, based in tragedy and hardship, working its way through misadventures and ruthless selfishness, coming out .... well, no spoilers, OK? There's nothing profound or startling here, but it's a good story and I enjoyed it.

The idea of a pedagogical introduction to the membrane paradigm is a good one. However, the authors' treatment is
far from self-contained; I was disappointed. My particular interest was in the treatment of electrodynamics outside the black hole. Unfortunately, the key equations (Maxwell's equations) were not derived but were referenced to another paper. I obtained the reference paper (with some difficulty) and found that again key results were simply stated based on an earlier reference. Now I have to put all this together, coping with the changes in notation and conventions. Not fun!

OF all the old English ascetical works which were extant before the Reformation none have maintained their reputation longer than Walter Hilton’s “Scale of Perfection.” Hilton was a canon of Thurgarton in Nottinghamshire, and died in 1395. His “Scale of Perfection” is found in no less than five MSS. in the British Museum alone. Wynkyn de Worde printed it at least three times—in the years 1494, 1519 and 1525. Many other editions were printed at the same period.

Wesley's Plain Account of Christian Perfection is a still newer treatment of what it means to love God with all your heart

This is my 4th reading of this devotional classic. This translation is slightly more modern than my printed version but still a bit more readable, even if it uses a lot of Elizabethan language. It covers a lot of the same ground as Teresa of Avila, DeSales, and DeCausade. Firmly rooted in the Catholic tradition, nevertheless it can be read, with profit, by those familiar with Wesleyan Holiness thought. Wesley's Plain Account of Christian Perfection is a still newer treatment of what it means to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. If that is your desire, this book can help you understand the ramifications for your life. Read it.
