Really Explains a Lot!

Laura Leigh Clarke's Wire Yourself For Wealth is probably the most helpful (and easily understandable) book I've read about finances and releasing the limiting beliefs and emotions that prevent us from achieving our full income potential. The section about personal money profiles explained things in such a way that I thought, "Of course! It makes perfect sense. Why did I not know this?"

A bonus of the book is access to several of her short audios, one of which is designed to reprogram the subconscious. I look forward to listening to it every day (she doesn't insist that anyone listen every day; I just want to get all I can out of it). She has a lovely voice, which makes it a pleasure.

The chapters about how we inadvertently resist what we want are powerful. Clarke shows readers how to identify particular emotions or beliefs that cause resistance and how to release them, freeing the emotional system to allow more desirable circumstances.

I'm afraid to put this book on a shelf. Better to keep it where I can see it at all times, lest I forget its lessons and fall back into my old patterns!

Folks, Looking for a breakthrough in creating wealth???? READ this Book!

I picked up this book because I was stifled and frustrated with not earning the money I expected in my business. After finishing the book and completing the POWERFUL exercises, I realized that I had found the answer to why I was not as successful as I had hoped and dreamed of being not only when working for others, but in building my own business. I now have a clear understanding of where my Money Genius lies and what I can do create "flow" in my life and work to be AND feel successful. Love the fact that she provides a path forward, with next steps and keen insights. I found her style thoughtful, fun, interesting and very approachable.

I cannot stress how important it is to be actively engaged with this book. Do the work, take your time, complete the exercises and be open to transforming your relationship to money and wealth.

If you have been wondering what is stopping you or how you can be even more successful in your job and business, I highly encourage you to buy and do the exercises in this book! I've never met Laura Leigh Clarke, but the impact her book has had on my view of myself with respect to wealth has instilled confidence that I can truly make money in my business and for that I will be eternally grateful. I especially found the "Self Esteem" exercised eye opening and affirming.

an absolute must to get into your money flow

I read this book as I was asked to give a review - and being the type of person I am - I wanted to give a full and honest review - so I threw myself into this book and I am so glad I did!

This book has the power to unlock you and unstick you, and genuinely could change your life - if you allow it to.

I was stuck in a rut - couldn't move forwards - no matter how many stern talking's to I gave myself, no matter how many sticks of dynamite I placed in certain places - I was stuck. Why? Because I wasn't in my flow. I was trying to swim upstream against a raging glacial rapid.

Once I did the money profile test, once I realised what my profile was and where my strengths and weaknesses lie - (I'm a creative by the way...) light bulbs went on at a rate of knots and many more pieces of the puzzle came together. This discovery was then beautifully balanced in the book with a degree of naval gazing and the unearthing of mental saboteurs that can hold you back. Once identified, Laura leads you through simple exercises so you can evict them for good.
I now feel ready to move forward, I would even go so far as to say I'm actually energised about the prospect, admittedly it's going to be in a slightly different direction to the one I had dreamt of - but one I know will mean I'm happier, I'll feel more fulfilled, it will bring me more wealth on many different levels and I'll be in my flow. No more glacial rapids for me.

I cannot stress how important it is that you don't just read this book - you need to interact with it - do the exercises, take the profile test, and really look at those unneeded and tatty bags of mental 'stuff' owned by your saboteur - you'll be glad you did.

Fascinating and incredibly disturbing: an important book

I'm not British: I'm American. But I was raised with the idea of "the greatest generation." I am pretty sure this idea is even more true in Great Britain than it is in the United States: the fight against the Nazis seems to pervade their cultural mythology, as well it should. The British certainly suffered more than the Americans, and ordinary British people proved their mettle in ways their American contemporaries couldn't imagine. Pringle figured it was worth asking these men and women their stories, *and* what they thought of modern Cool Britannia. The answer should chill anyone to the bone. Most of them say the fight wasn't worth it. What happened to Britain subsequently seemed worse to them than being conquered by Nazis. Think about that for a moment. These are the people who actually fought the Nazis; not people who only know who that time from old newsreels and ridiculous Hollywood movies. They'd rather have learned goosestepping in German than live in modern Britain. Their complaints mostly boiled down to immigration (Germans apparently make better neighbors than the invaders they got), immorality and crime.The civilization they suffered so much to defend against the Nazis is now dead and gone, never to return, and replaced with something ultimately even more abominable.

I don't know; maybe it was selectively edited. Maybe the type of people who respond to such request are alienated grouches, though not all of them were: one or two liked modern Britain. Their wartime stories had the detailed ring of authenticity, and were told in the voices of ordinary people, rather than some propagandist trying to make a point. I believe the author was simply trying to give these people a voice before they all died out, as he said. The war stories themselves are fascinating, but their opinions on modern life are a real punch to the throat.

Hard hitting opinions

I would like to praise the author for giving the heroes of the second world war a platform to air their opinions. I'm not at all surprised about some of the politically incorrect views of the veterans, but I found it depressing that so many of them feel disconnected to the land they fought so hard for and many of them are no longer proud of their country as they don't recognise or even like the place. The government and media will have you believe they took up arms to fight for equality against tyranny, the men in this book tell you they fought because they believed their way of life was under threat and wanted to preserve it, they feel since the end of the war successive governments have eroded what they loved through politically correct policies and handing constitutional power to the European union, many of them feel their fallen comrades will be turning in their graves at the state of Britain today.This book can get a bit repetitive because the veterans opposition to the E.U, mass immigration ,homosexuality and general degeneracy in modern society is unanimous.

Good book told by WWII vets experiences in the war in their own words makes a very interesting perspective. Then they describe how they feel about Great Britain today and in most cases their feelings regarding their country are not good. Makes one realize how our much our two countries are alike. I was able to identify exactly with these people.

Theodore of Mopsuestia, born in Antioch (c. 350) and a disciple of Diodore of Tarsus, serves as one of the most important exemplars of Antiochene exegesis of his generation. As a result many of his theological and exegetical works were lost or destroyed. The original Greek version of his Commentary on the Gospel of John remains only in fragments. This new English translation is based on an early complete Syriac translation dated A.D. 460-465, within forty years of Theodore’s death in 428. While charges of heterodoxy against Theodore may not be entirely justified, there remains an apparent dualism in his Christology that should be critically viewed in light of the later Chalcedonian formula. With this caution, there still remains much that is valuable for contemporary readers, whether preachers, students or lay people interested in the early church’s understanding of the Gospel of John. Here for the first time is a complete English translation of this valuable work, ably translated by Marco Conti and edited by Joel C. Elowsky. Ancient Christian Texts is a series of new translations, most of which are here presented in English for the first time. The series provides contemporary readers with the resources they need to study for themselves the key writings of the early church. The texts represented in the series are full-length commentaries or sermon series based on biblical books or extended scriptural passages.

Devout commentator gives the clear sense

Theodore of Mopsuestia's commentary on John brings to mind an incident in the history of ancient Israel. The people gathered together, and Ezra the scribe read from the Book of the Law of Moses. Ezra was joined by others that "helped the people to understand the Law ... They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly, and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading" (Nehemiah 8:7-8 ESV).

Theodore does much the same throughout this commentary. He recites the verses and then gives the sense of the passage omitting extraneous words. He uses paraphrase to make it understandable. His commentary of John 16, where Jesus predicts persecution for the disciples, is characteristic: "(16:4) But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you about them. `If I had not predicted these things,' he says, `you might have lost your courage because these afflictions would have befallen you unexpectedly and you would have been unprepared. But if instead I predict what will happen to you, then, after it has happened, you will have to admire the power of the one who made the prediction, which is why you should have no doubt about the blessings I promised you.' "

His way of using expansive thought to get at the underlying meaning seems unique. Although some of it is conjecture, most of it is plausible. He avoids being overly analytical and instead offers insight from an early era.

This was written in the late fourth or early fifth century. Theodore died in 428. His proximity to the church fathers gives him a different perspective than modern commentators. He highlights some of the erroneous interpretations of John's gospel present in his own time. He draws attention to particulars (including refutation of heretics) in John's writing that may be overlooked.

He makes it clear that John was writing to include those events omitted by the other gospel writers. In addition, John was concerned about the precise order of events, because, as Theodore puts it, "the others had taken no care in this regard."

A major aspect that informs his reflections is his reverence. What one sees is a reflection of character. Jesus said, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" (Matthew 5:8 ESV). "With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless; with the purified you show yourself pure; and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous" (Psalm 18:25-26 ESV). It's obvious from his writing and language that Theodore's eye was single, making his body of work full of light.

That's not to say that he is always right. He was not without controversy. His Christology is somewhat flawed in that he sees "an excessive separation between Christ's human and divine natures, which is due on the one hand, to the fact that an accurate definition of the unity of Christ's nature was established only after Theodore's death; on the other, to the fact that in his polemic against the Apollinarists he exaggerated the separation of the two natures of Christ." This is something that the reader must keep in mind, and occasionally it makes for awkward reading, but this is no reason to skip this commentary. The editor includes helpful notes as a reminder and for clarification.

Aside from getting a clear sense of what John is all about, finding a passage like the following, where Theodore comments on Jesus' example of service at the Passover meal, made this worth the read for me. Here we see how his reverence toward God, others and all of life informs his insight. "Humility is the principle of all virtues. It removes any conflict, division or dissension among people, planting peace and charity among them instead. And through charity humility grows and increases. Our Lord frequently desired to teach this to his disciples through his words and works."

Modern commentaries may go deeper and provide more suggestions for application, but this devout commentator succeeds in providing the basic sense of what is being said.

Highly Recommended!

John Thorp's book recalls Mark Twain's definition of a classic as "a book you want to have read but don't want to read." If you're an executive with control over your company's information technology purse stings, you probably don't want to read a book this detailed in the intricacies of IT, which is exactly the reason that you should. Thorp's initial premise is that many IT investments never pan out in part because the people that are signing off on them have absolutely no idea what to expect. This book will give you a clue, but don't expect to enjoy it. It's dense with IT terminology, change and program management strategies and valuation techniques. We [...] recommend this book to all of you professionals who know that you need a better understanding of information technology, even if you won't admit it. Don't put off reading this book, no matter how much you'd like to.

Well-structured well-written thought-provoking book. Good mix of theoretical and case-study materials. Clearly introduces useful models and analytical methods. Applies the balanced scorecard approach to IT value measurement, linked with an emphasis on sound programme management/control to constrain IT costs. The bottom line: a darn good read!

Academic approach to paradoxes: scant advice for management.

This academic book describes a number of apparent paradoxes in business that will be familiar to managers from junior supervisors upwards.
It adopts an unashamedly academic approach to analysing these problems, and uses many charts and diagrams that will almost certainly catch on with management consultants in coming years. A good example is the chart that exaplains IT investment in terms of a matrix composed of Linkage, Reach, People and Time. This chart is interesting and has some relevance to problems in major academic research organisations and helth and safety organisations.

This wound up being the original!!

I was surprised to receive the original! It was in good condition! The play, itself is hilarious! This version's font was hard to read, but I have a modern version for reading. I enjoyed showing off this original to the directors of the play (and they used the pic of the set to help them come up with a concept to build our set :)
