I found it to be an excellent compilation of practical and diverse examples for both new and moderate users. The graphical menu approach with step-by-step examples and full web videos with CD support for working finished models is very supportive of the workbench interface as well as the reviews of the relevant physics involved for robust boundary conditions. I will be looking for more for advanced uses in the future for ANSYS Multi-physics, Explicit STR, Rigid Dynamics, and LS-Dyna extensions. If the author can create more, I will look here first.

Valuable Training Tool for ANSYS Workbench

This is a well written tutorial for ANSYS Workbench. Having used ANSYS for over twenty years, I used this book to bring myself kicking and screaming out of the APDL format. The book includes a CD that is very helpful in the learning process. The author has wisely set up the book to be followed in a program like fashion. Unfortunately, the book is so popular in my firm that I can't seem to keep it on my bookshelf. We have sent folks to ANSYS formal training and have had better results just having them go through this workbook. We now provide each new analyst with this workbook.

About the Author
Sina Ebnesajjad is the series editor of Plastics Design Library (PDL) published in the William Andrew imprint of Elsevier. This Series is a unique series, comprising technology and applications handbooks, data books and practical guides tailored to the needs of practitioners. Sina was the editor-in-chief of William Andrew Publishing from 2005 to 2007, which was acquired by Elsevier in 2009.

He retired as a Senior Technology Associate in 2005 from the DuPont fluoropolymers after nearly 24 years of service. Sina founded of FluoroConsultants Group, LLC in 2006 where he continues to work. Sina earned his Bachelor of Science from the School of Engineering of the University of Tehran in 1976, Master of Science and PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, all in Chemical Engineering.

He is author, editor and co-author of fifteen technical and data books including five handbooks on fluoropolymers technology and applications. He is author and co-author of three books in surface preparation and adhesion of materials, two of which are in their second editions. Sina has been involved with technical writing and publishing since 1974.

His experiences include fluoropolymer technologies (polytetrafluoroethylene and its copolymers) including polymerization, finishing, fabrication, product development, failure analysis, market development and technical service. Sina holds six patents.

I give "The Sourcers Playbook" my strongest recommendation

I was fortunate enough to be among the first to review this work prior to its release here on Amazon. My thoughts? BUY IT! Buy it now! Allow me to explain...

I have over a decade of experience conducting internet research, competitive intelligence and training Recruiters on internet research techniques inside Microsoft, Google, Siemens, MCI and a string of startup companies. As such, I have been privy to several trends, tools and tech that all Sourcers should be leveraging in their daily routine. As I read through THE SOURCERS PLAYBOOK, I realized that Geoff Peterson had discussed the most relevant tools and more profitable techniques in a clear, concise and casual manner. Furthermore, the images supported are presented so well that everyone from novice to expert can immediately "get it" and put into action.

About the Author
Dr. Stout has more than 20 years of petroleum and coal industry experience. He specializes in chemical compositions of fuel-derived sources of contamination in terrestrial and marine environments, which includes crude oil, coal, gasoline and other substances. His research has been used for decision making by the United States Departments of Justice and Defense, and by the forest products, utility, railroad, wood treatment, maritime shipping, port operations, and oil and gas industries. Dr. Stout has authored or co-authored nearly 120 scientific papers and edited a textbook on the environmental forensics aspects of maritime oil spills.

Dr. Zhendi Wang is a senior research scientist and Head of Oil Spill Research of Environment Canada, working in the oil and toxic chemical spill research field. His specialties and research interests include: development of oil spill fingerprinting and tracing technology, environmental forensics of oil spill; oil properties, fate and behavior of oil and other hazardous organics in the environment; oil burn emission and products study; oil bioremediation; identification and characterization of oil hydrocarbons; and, spill treatment studies; applications of modern analytical techniques (such as GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, SFE and SFC, and IC) to oil spill studies and other environmental science and technology.
Dr. Wang has continually and extensively led and been involved in various scientific projects, technology transfer, and national and international cooperative researches with the total funding over 3 million dollars. He has authored over 270 academic publications including 72 peer-reviewed articles and 4 invited reviews in the most respected journals in the environmental science and chemistry, and 8 books and book chapters. The productivity, excellence and achievements of Dr. Wang have established him as a national and international “leading authority on the topic”. He has won a number of national and international scientific honours and awards. Wang is also a member of America Chemical Society (ACS), the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC), and the International Society of Environmental Forensics.

Disappointed

I was expecting something different from this book - maybe something more along the Getting Things Done path than what this ended up being. It is definitely a short read - the highlights are outlined in the book description above.

I'd say this is definitely geared more towards management than worker bee's, but there are still a few things anyone can use. Number one being, just say "no" to meetings that don't provide any value. Other than that (which I already try to practice), I just didn't get much out of this book. I'm a little surprised by all of the glowing reviews I read here. Maybe I missed something.

This book turned my head around, not to mention my department

Nine months ago I was hired to help turnaround a once successful business. From day one I realized that this was a company without focus. It's one thing to define a problem, another to find a solution. Haneberg's book was a shot in the arm. Just one concept -- "Stop Multitasking" -- would have been a major breakthrough for my team. And, personally, the idea of doing "One Great Thing" has completely revitalized my approach to a huge job. This book immediately rose to the rank of three or four "must read" titles in my business library. In the couple of months since I first read it (and I've re-read it a couple of times) our department has moved far away from the reactive mode that drove decisions -- we're nailing deadlines, we're closing more sales, we're thinking more strategically across the board. In a business and social environment that throws more at us day-by-day, hour-by-hour, this book is even more important than it would have been just a few years ago. We're all doing more with less -- and this is a book that has helped me see order amid the chaos of conflicting priorities. If it's true, as Woody Allen says, that 98% of success is showing up, then the other 2% is knowing how to keep your eye on the ball once you get there. This is the manual for getting your business -- and your life -- where you want it to be.

Clarity, Vision, Action, and Results

If you want goal-setting glitz and glamour, watch an infomercial. If you want a commonsense management refresher course that reorders your thoughts and shows you a step-by-step path leading to breakthrough successes, read, "Focus Like a Laser Beam."

This is one of those books that sneaks-up on you. You read a section, pause, nod knowingly, and keep reading. Then, throughout the following days and weeks the book's messages keep bubbling to the surface as your context and focus changes.

This book is all about establishing clear visions and focused actions that produce results. Of the book's "10 Ways to Do What Matters Most," my favorite is, "Stop Multitasking, Start Chunking." I always prided myself on my ability to multitask and keep dozens of projects moving at the same time.

After reflecting on this section of the book, I stopped and focused on each project. I realized I had created a great deal of commotion, with very little forward movement.

By carving out "chunks" of time to focus and respond to each project, I immediately experienced a series of small breakthrough accomplishments.

Sure, in hindsight it was commonsense, but without having read "Focus" and learning to dedicate chunks of time to important tasks, I would probably never finished this review.
